COVINGTON -- Parents looking for a way to spend some quality time with their children are in luck. The FFA-FCCLA Center is partnering with the Junior Bass Busters Club of Covington to offer a parent-child fishing event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The free event will take place at the FFA Center off Ga. Highway 36 to celebrate the new Hayes-Outz Fishing Pavilion, named in honor of the late James Hayes, an FFA volunteer and member, and the late Clyde Outz, an agriculture teacher who brought his students to the facility. Both men bequeathed money to the camp.
Door prizes will be handed out and awards will be given for those who catch the biggest fish and the most fish. Kids up to age 15 can compete, but all ages can fish.
"It's just an excellent opportunity to spend time with your kids and have a good time," said Leroy Bagley, educational program specialist with the FFA-FCCLA Center. For more information, call Bagley at 770-786-6926, ext. 8 or
e-mail lbagley@gaaged.org.
