Newton Citizen
This chunky little female Beagle-mix would love to have a new home for Christmas. She's described as "a roly-poly puppy who loves to play," and she's surely destined to be the center of attention for some lucky family. She's 10 weeks old now and will probably weigh about 20 pounds as an adult. She, along with a sister from the same litter, can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington.
The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals.
The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
