CONYERS -- Police arrested two men Wednesday night and are looking for a third after an armed robbery that led to a two-county police chase.

Capt. Scott Freeman with the Conyers Police Department told the Citizen on Friday that police responded to an armed robbery at 1543 Ga. Highway 138 at La Taquiera early Wednesday night.

No apprehensions were immediately made in the armed robbery, but the suspect vehicle, a blue car, was later seen at the Mellow Mushroom restaurant on Ga. Highway 138.

"Later that evening we got a call from some of the employees at the Mellow Mushroom that they observed three black males that were suspicious," Freeman said.

Police found that the car that the men were in matched the description of the car from the armed robbery. The car also was reported as a stolen vehicle. Freeman said an officer tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not cooperate.

"We had a vehicle pursuit that went to DeKalb," Freeman said.

The pursuit ended in a wreck at Panola and Redan roads.

Two suspects were taken into custody and the third suspect fled on foot, according to Freeman.

Karim Palmer, 17, of Stone Mountain was one of the two arrested suspects. He was taken to the Rockdale County Jail. The identity of the second suspect arrested was not available.

Palmer faces charges of felony theft by receiving stolen property, loitering and prowling and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.

Freeman said the incident is still under investigation as to whether the suspects are connected to the armed robbery.

There were no injuries or damage to the city vehicles or the officers. DeKalb County officials assisted in the pursuit.
