COVINGTON -- The Covington/Conyers Choral Guild wants to help you get in the holiday spirit.

The group, under the direction of conductor Roger Waters and accompanist Joni Jones, will present its annual holiday concert series, Sounds of the Season, next month.

"The music will feature its traditional carols that are slightly different and a lot of fun to sing," said alto singer Carol Brown. "It begins your season with a real nice feel."

The group, which is made up of about 75 members ranging from college-age to senior citizen men and women mostly from Newton and Rockdale counties, has tweaked the arrangements of the songs from Alice Parker's "Seven Carols for Christmas" and other holiday tunes.

"You'll still be able to recognize it, but it won't be the same old arrangement out of the hymn book," Brown said. "It's a varied program."

Show times are scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at Rockdale Auditorium, which is located at 903 Main St. in Olde Town Conyers, and 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at First Baptist Church of Covington, located at 1139 Usher St. in Covington.

Tickets cost $10 each and are available at the door or by calling the Choral Guild office at 770-761-0474.

The Choral Guild will present a spring concert in May.

Members will travel to Normandy, France, in July to perform at the American Cemetery's Independence Day celebration. They also have been invited back to Carnegie Hall in 2012.
