COVINGTON -- An alleged child molester from Covington who has been on the run since August has been arrested in Tennessee, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
Kent Stanley Jones, 44, who was residing in Covington in August when warrants were taken for his arrest, was living at 346 Lauren Branch Road in Rogersville, Tenn., when he was arrested by deputies from the Hawkins County Sheriff's Department based on information received from agents with the U.S. Marshals Service. He was taken into custody on Nov. 17 on a fugitive from justice warrant.
Jones is charged with three counts each of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and enticing a child for indecent purposes in connection with incidents involving a 12-year-old boy, according to NCSO spokesman Lt. Tyrone Oliver. The suspect knew the victim, Oliver said.
He is currently being held in the Hawkins County Jail without bail, awaiting extradition to Newton.
"On behalf of Sheriff (Ezell) Brown, we'd like to thank the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals Service for working together in the apprehension of Mr. Jones," Oliver said.
