Newton Citizen
This tiny fellow appears to be a miniature Beagle. He only weighs about15 pounds, but officials at the Newton shelter estimate he's at least a year old and will not get any bigger. He was picked up as a stray and would make a perfect family pet. He's the very desirable tricolored combination and would love to snuggle in a lap or hunt rabbits in the woods.
He can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption.
The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten.
Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
