This black cat has just enough white on her to make sure no one thinks she's unlucky. She'd be a lucky addition to any family. Believed to be a

Persian-mix, she's 2 to 3 years old and was brought in to the shelter as

a stray. She is very unhappy and scared living at the shelter and would

appreciate a quiet, loving home.

She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals.

The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
