Chamber to host forum to look back at Legislature

COVINGTON — The Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a post-legislative forum for citizens to learn about the hot topics during this year's recently ended Georgia General Assembly session.

The forum will take place at 8 a.m. on Wednesday at DeKalb Technical College, located at 8100 Bob Williams Parkway. State Sen. John Douglas, R-Social Circle, and State Rep. Doug Holt, R-Social Circle, have confirmed they will attend. State Reps. John Lunsford, R-McDonough, and Toney Collins, D-Conyers, have been invited but have not yet confirmed attendance. A representative from U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson's,

R-Ga., office will also be on hand.

"The intent of the meeting is to give an update on issues and what passed and what didn't pass," said Lisa Oglesby, programs coordinator for the Chamber. "They will come in and give a brief update on different hot issues, and there will be time for people to ask questions."

The cost to attend the event is $8 and includes breakfast. To make reservations, call 770-786-7510 or visit www.newtonchamber.com, click on the Chamber calendar of events and select "Newton AM/Post Legislative Update."
