CONYERS -- A Rockdale County man was killed late Friday in a single-vehicle accident on Wilson Road north of Conyers.
Thomas Crowe of Conyers was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that occurred at 11:30 p.m. Friday on a sharp curve of Wilson Road approaching Ga. Highway 20. Crowe's exact age was not available, but traffic investigators with the Rockdale County sheriff's Office said he was in his 50's.
Crowe was an occupant in a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup truck as it traveled east on Wilson Road. The truck left the roadway as it approached a sharp curve and rolled over several times. Crowe was ejected from the truck as it was rolling. The truck rested in a front yard of a residence in the 2000 block of Wilson Road, RCSO spokeswoman Lt. Myra Pearrell said.
The other occupant of the truck was a 15-year-old girl who was not seriously injured in the accident. Pearrell said Saturday investigators were still determining who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Charges were pending as the investigation was continuing. Excessive speed was considered a factor in the accident, Pearrell said.
It was the second fatal traffic accident reported in Rockdale County this year and the third fatality.
