CONYERS -- A local man arrested last spring for molesting a child was sentenced to prison time.
On Friday, Rockdale County Chief Superior Court Judge Sidney Nation sentenced Spencer Tash Anderson, 37, of 1107 Wallington Court, to 20 years, 16 of which is to be served in prison.
Anderson was arrested May 1, 2009, in connection with an incident that happened between May 2008 and May 2009.
The female victim reportedly told school officials May 1, 2009, that Anderson performed a sexual act on her.
The victim, under the age of 10, was working on a writing activity at school when she made the statements, according to court testimony.
Anderson pleaded guilty to child molestation April 20 under a negotiated plea with the District Attorney's Office. The state's recommendation to the judge was for Spencer to be sentenced to 20 years and serve 18 years in confinement.
Besides the confinement, Nation also added a couple of conditions to the sentence. Anderson is to have counseling and treatment as a sex offender and he is to have no contact with the victim and the family.
