Welcome to Tiny Town

COVINGTON -- The kindergarten hall at East Newton Elementary School looks a little different this week.Students, staff and visitors to the school are greeted in the hall with a "Welcome to Tiny Town" sign and then they see decorated doors and classrooms, inviting them into various "shops," where students are having lots of fun and learning something new, too.

COVINGTON -- An Oconee Metal Recovery employee has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with a shooting incident that took place while a Covington Police officer was patrolling the grounds of the metal recycling business on Washington Street.

Senior center honors community members

The Newton County Senior Center recently sponsored its Second Annual Pearls of Wisdom Luncheon in honor of Women's History Month. Ten honorees, along with 65 guests, took part in the event.
