Sharpening safety skills

Firefighters from the Covington Fire Department and Newton County Fire Services joined forces Friday for a dual training session. The joint training helped familiarize personnel with multi-story rescues, raising and lowering patients and equipment and rigging techniques.

Troops return home

COVINGTON -- Soldiers with Company B 1/121st Infantry of the National Guard's 48th Brigade, based at the Covington Armory, returned home from Afghanistan on Sunday evening.
