Area superintendents recently celebrated the opening of a new cooperative purchasing warehouse for Griffin Regional Educational Services Agency.
Griffin RESA provides cooperative purchasing services, along with many other diverse services, and supports the eight school systems that comprise the agency's network.
By making purchases in volume collectively for these eight systems, Griffin RESA is able to buy consumable instructional supplies, instructional equipment, and maintenance supplies at a substantial savings for its member institutions. With the opening of the new warehouse,
Griffin RESA will be able operate its cooperative purchasing division with increased efficiency. The new facility consists of 18,000 square feet of storage space and will enable the agency to supply a much greater inventory, thus reducing the need for back orders and multiple delivery trips.
The new warehouse will also decrease the operational costs of the agency's supply distribution operations. The planning and construction of this project were a cooperative effort between Griffin RESA, The Griffin-Spalding Development Authority, and the eight school systems.
