Indian Creek Middle School recently held a special program to celebrate Black History Month.
The fifth annual program's theme was "The History of Black Economic Empowerment."
It honored poetry contest winners: first place Aliyah Davis and James Huff; second place Samone Garlington, Kelsie English, Timothy Birt and LeJewel Wyatt; third place Brianna Kendall, Damel Hardeman and Taylor Whaley; and fourth place Chelsie Jackson and Malik Watson.
The school also honored poster contest winners: first place Samone Garlington, second place Ethan Lindsey, third place James Huff and Billy New and fourth place Larry Saxton and Jared Jackson.
