GBI: Men molested girl, 10

COVINGTON — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has announced the arrest of two men in connection with the sexual molestation of a 10-year-old girl who had been living in Newton County.

According to GBI spokesman John Bankhead, the arrests came as a result of a joint investigation by the GBI and the Newton County Sheriff's Office.

"The U.S. Marshal's Service and the GBI made the arrests in Union City," Bankhead said in a press release issued late Monday.

Danny Lee Arnold, 19, and his brother, Thomas Marcus Arnold, 21, both of Union City, have both been charged with child molestation, incest, cruelty to children and sexual battery in connection with the case.

"The Department of Family and Children Services had initially contacted the Newton County Sheriff's Office when DFACS learned that the 10-year-old girl was pregnant," Bankhead said.

Bankhead said the young girl was staying with relatives in Newton County when she came to the attention of DFACS.

"The Sheriff's Office contacted the GBI on May 3 for assistance in the investigation when they determined the incidents occurred in Union City in Fulton County," Bankhead said. "The investigation revealed the molestation had been going on for several years."

Bankhead said the young girl is now in the care of other relatives.

Also arrested with the Arnold brothers was Lisa Arnold of Union City.

"(She) was arrested on charges of incest due to evidence indicating she had had sex with her two nephews. All three are related to the (10-year-old) victim," Bankhead said.
