COVINGTON -- A group of masked men invaded a private residence at the Silos of Ellington on Wednesday night, terrorizing several people in the home, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
Public Information Officer Deputy Courtney Morrison said a group of black men, wearing bandannas on their faces, forced their way into a home at 65 Adelaide Drive. They were armed with guns and baseball bats, she said.
"They were looking for a specific individual and when they realized the person wasn't there, they all fled and left the scene in three different cars," Morrison said. "Upon leaving, they smashed the windows out of a vehicle parked in the driveway."
She said the only descriptions they have of the vehicles used to flee the season is that there was a black car, a red car and a silver car.
According to witness reports, the incident occurred between 10 and 11 p.m. She said it was unclear exactly how many men there were involved in the attack; however, no one was hurt during the incident and there was no robbery.
Deputies canvassed the area and a lookout was put out for the suspects, but so far no arrests have been made, Morrison said.
She asks that anyone with information regarding this incident to please contact the NCSO at 678-625-1400.
