COVINGTON -- A 17-year-old boy from Lawrenceville was killed in a car crash late Monday afternoon after he attempted to pass another vehicle on a double yellow line, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Endri Lipo was dead at the scene, according to GSP public information officer Gordy Wright. His passenger, 16-year-old Paolo Frigeri, also of Lawrenceville, was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center and is listed in critical but stable condition. The 52-year-old driver of the truck that was hit was from Concord, and he sustained visible injuries but did not require hospitalization.
The crash occurred about 4:15 p.m. on Conley Ditch Road near the Jasper County line.
"(Lipo) was driving the Mazda Protege and traveling south on Conley Ditch Road when he crossed the center line and hit the Ford F-250 head-on," Wright said. "The Mazda then overturned."
The GSP is continuing to investigate the crash.
