COVINGTON — The Newton County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the man who drowned over the Memorial Day weekend at Factory Shoals Park. Henry Thomas Terrell, 59, was found in the park's turbulent waters Sunday morning, according to NCSO spokesman Lt. Mark Mitchell.
Mitchell said that Terrell had been reported missing by his family about 8 p.m. Saturday. "He was last seen at 4 p.m. Saturday," Mitchell said. A deputy on patrol spotted Terrell's vehicle in the parking lot at Factory Shoals Park Sunday morning. "Articles of clothing were also found in the area," Mitchell said. "We called out the dive team and he was located minutes after they went in." The drowning was a sad beginning to the summer season at the park, which has been the scene of several drownings in the recent past. "We just urge people to be careful on the shoals and in the water," Mitchell said. "The rains cause quick currents, and swimmers should be cautious."More like this story
