COVINGTON — With people pinching pennies any way they can, two local organizations are teaming up to bring Anika Bozeman, known as Atlanta's Coupon Queen, to town to offer the community money-saving tips.
Bozeman will offer a free workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Porterdale Elementary School, located at 45 Ram Drive in Covington. Bozeman will share her methods for getting the most bang for your buck at the grocery store through a coupon system that she claims will save 50 to 90 percent on grocery bills. Bozeman and her coupon clipping methods have been featured on "Good Morning America," "Good Day Atlanta" and in Atlanta Magazine.
The workshop is sponsored by Porterdale Parent University, a group of parents affiliated with Porterdale Elementary School, and the Chi Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
"This is a good opportunity to teach people little ways of how to save," said Bresha Shaw, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha.
Shaw said she has used Bozeman's coupon clipping suggestions and at times has wound up getting money back on shopping trips. Those on food stamps should not be discouraged from attending the workshop, she said, noting that Bozeman can teach them how to stretch their allocation.
The workshop will be held in the school cafeteria and light refreshments will be served. For more information on Bozeman, visit www.thecuttinedge.org.
