While temperatures soared, East Newton fourth-grader Trent Thompson kept cool as he plunged into the blue water of the Covington YMCA swimming pool Tuesday morning. By afternoon, temperatures hovered near triple digits, while weather forecasters said the only relief will come from random, pop-up thunderstorms.
