Getting set for school

It still feels like summertime outside, but Newton County educators are already preparing for the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year. Teachers at Ficquett Elementary School were preparing their classrooms Monday for the students who will come through their doors for the first time Aug. 6, ready to begin the 2010-11 school year.

No change in prices of school food

COVINGTON — Students and teachers won't have to worry about shelling out more money for school lunches this year. The School Foods Services Department at the Newton County School System doesn't plan to increase meal prices for the upcoming school year.

COVINGTON — The Covington Police Department is investigating a series of entering auto cases which occurred in the parking lot of Five O'Clock Somewhere in the Covington Gallery shopping center, near K-Mart, in the early morning hours Sunday.
