COVINGTON -- Two Newton County roads -- Butler Bridge and Sears roads -- will be temporarily closed next week, according to Newton County Roads Superintendent Robert Griffith.
"We've already placed our advanced warning signs up that the work will be going to let the local folks know," Griffith said Friday afternoon.
Butler Bridge Road will be closed to through traffic on Tuesday, July 20, in order to replace a cross drain. Access to Butler Bridge from Ga. Highway 20 will be detoured.
"The detour signs will be up early before we start work. We normally finish this kind of work up around 3 or 4 in the afternoon, but, of course, when your dealing with utilities, you never can tell," he said.
The other cross drain repair will take place on Sears Road on Thursday, July 22, but the detour in that instance will not be extensive as the road will still be accessible from Galloway Road, Griffith said.
