COVINGTON -- The Covington Police are asking for the public's help in locating three men who robbed Kay Jewelers on U.S. Highway 278 about noon Monday.
CPD Detective D.J. Seals said two of the men entered the Newton Plaza store first and pretended to be shopping.
"They then put the workers on the ground at gunpoint," Seals said, adding that at that time a third suspect joined them.
"They then began breaking cases open and stealing jewelry," he said. "This was all in less than three minutes."
Witnesses stated the men left in a single cab pickup, dark in color. Also, there is a possibility that a silver minivan was involved in the escape. No one was able to give officers a direction of travel.
One of the men is believed to have injured himself during the course of the robbery.
"He cut himself quite well, apparently. We had a good quantity of blood we were able to collect," Seals said. The injury was believed to have occurred to his arm or hand.
Seals said he would not be surprised to learn that this was not the first robbery these three men had committed.
"Just by watching their mannerisms and the tape, I don't think this was their first go at this. They seemed to know what they were doing," Seals said. "Any help the public can give us would be appreciated."
Police ask that anyone with information as to the identity or whereabouts of the suspects in this case contact CPD Lt. Paul Dailey at 770-385-6431, email@example.com or the Covington Police Department Criminal Intelligence Unit at firstname.lastname@example.org.
