Dr. Beth McElhenny, right, of Oak Hill Animal Hospital presents food, equipment and a check for $300 raised for the care of needy animals during the Christmas season to Newton County Humane Society President Betty Belairs. Clients of the hospital, located at 5274 Ga. Highway 20, S., donated $150 in cash as well as supplies and the hospital matched the funds. "It warms the heart to see the generosity of animal lovers, especially in hard times," McElhenny said. "We wanted to provide a special service to the community over the Christmas season and we were tremendously pleased with the response. I hope to make it an annual project." Anyone who may want to donate funds to needy animals can do so by contacting Newton County Animal Control for a copy of their "wish list," or by bringing the items to the Oak Hill Animal Hospital during normal business hours.
