Dealership gives $900 to NCSO
Owner Wendell Crowe of Covington Ford recently presented Newton County Sheriff Ezell Brown with a check for $900 to be used to purchase Level III bullet proof vests for NCSO deputies. Looking on are Covington Ford employees as well as Deputy Wesley Atha, left, and Deputy James Trent, both of whom were recently injured in a shooting that inspired Atha's family to begin the fund for the new vests.

NCSS asks for input on calendar
The Newton County School System is seeking input from parents as it looks at four calendar options for the 2010-11 school year. They're asking that parents log on to the school system Web site at www.newtoncountyschools.org and take the survey offered.
