Cut-your-own tree farms add to Christmas experience
As the holiday season approaches, local Christmas tree growers invite families to tromp through their fields, cut down the perfect tree and linger awhile with some boiled peanuts or a cup of hot chocolate.

First-grader Jackson Smith from Fairview Theme School helps prepare a float Friday afternoon that will be in today's Christmas Parade which starts at 11 a.m. Highlights will be floats from Dukes of Georgia Auto Club, soldiers from the Covington National Guard Bravo Company and, of course, Santa Claus. The parade starts west on Newton Drive, south on Anderson to Floyd, west on Floyd through the Covington Square, onto Clark Street, then left on Lee Street, left on Washington Street and east to East Street. Sponsored by the Covington Lions Club and Mainstreet Covington, donations of used eyeglasses can be made during the parade to be used for Lighthouse for the Blind charities.
