Newton Citizen
This little girl may look like she's sticking her tongue out at you, but really she's just getting ready for a big kiss. A fully-grown Dachshund-mix, she weighs about 14 pounds and is believed to be approximately 2 years old. She has a sweet disposition and is ready to lap-sit. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption.
The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten.
Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals.
The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
