A crash involving two tractor trailers at the Exit 98, Ga. Highway 11 off ramp at Interstate 20 westbound has snarled traffic since 11 a.m. today.
According to Newton County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Mark Mitchell, westbound lanes are completely closed and traffic is moving slowly in the eastbound lanes. He said the situation is not expected to improve until after 3 p.m., as one of the trucks was carrying hazardous material of an unknown origin. The Newton County Fire Department is working to clean the roadway.
One of the drivers and an occupant of one of the trucks were injured, Mitchell said. The extent of their injuries is not known.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident and more details will follow when available.
