The Newton County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit visited the three Newton County high schools Wednesday afternoon to hand out hundreds of coupons for free Chick-fil-A sandwiches to students, staff, parents and other drivers who were wearing their safety belts.

Fire officials urge locals to use caution with holiday decorations

The Newton County Fire Service is reminding residents of the dangers of home fires, which historically increase during the holiday season and periods of extreme cold weather. This year, both risks seem to be prevalent and warnings are being issued.
