COVINGTON -- A Chicago man was found dead early Friday morning after being involved in a traffic crash on Covington Bypass sometime during the early morning hours, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
"The call was received at 7:16 this morning, but the crash occurred sometime after 2:20 a.m. That was the last call on his cell," GSP spokesman Gordy Wright said Friday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Abraham Sprowal, 40, of Chicago.
Troopers said the driver was northbound on Covington Bypass near the Yellow River Bridge, between Lower River Road and Flat Shoals Road.
"He left the road in a curve, struck an embankment and overturned," Wright said.
The victim was not wearing his seat belt and toxicology tests will be conducted to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
