Newton High School senior Bryan Vasquez trims the hair on his cow, Otiz, on Thursday afternoon to prepare him for this weekend's cattle show in Elbert County. Otiz is a cross-breed cow born in November 2009. Cattle are usually shown until they are about a year and a half old. This is the first year Vasquez has shown cows. He showed pigs at area shows during his freshman and junior years.
