Echols faces Douglas in Aug. 10 runoff

Excited about education

Hundreds of youngsters gathered Sunday afternoon on the Square to celebrate the onset of the new school year and to collect free school supplies provided at the Back 2 School 2010 Downtown Covington Block Party. In addition to the supplies, students enjoyed Moon Walks, games and other giveaways. Rain interfered with the distribution of some of the free school supplies, so residents who did not get supplies are asked to visit the Washington Street Community Center, located at 4138 School St., off Washington Street, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. until Thursday to receive their supplies.

Immunizations encouraged this month
