COVINGTON -- Newton County school officials and educators are analyzing a lot of data to help improve their schools.

COVINGTON -- The unemployment rate in Newton and Rockdale counties continues to be higher than the state and national levels, but there has been some improvement over the past six months, according to statistics from the Georgia Department of Labor.

Man accused of sex assault of teen

COVINGTON -- A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a teenage girl, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.

State drops charge in robbery

State prosecutors were forced to drop an armed robbery charge for a man after an equipment malfunction led to failure to record an interview that was to be used as evidence.
