COVINGTON -- State Sen. John Douglas, R-Social Circle, will face competition in his bid for the Public Service Commission.
Douglas, who has served in the Senate since 2004, had originally announced he would seek election for a fourth term. Instead, on Tuesday, he qualified to run for the PSC District 2 seat vacated by Bobby Baker.
By Wednesday, two more people had thrown theirs hat into the ring. State Rep. Jeff May, R-Monroe, poses a primary challenge for Douglas. The winner of the Republican primary will face Macon resident Keith Moffett in the General Election.
May has represented District 110 in the state House since 2004. He has served on the Economic Development Subcommittee of Appropriations; Energy, Utilities, and Telecommunications; Ethics; Industrial Relations; Ways and Means. May is also vice chairman for the majority caucus.
Moffett currently serves as director of internal affairs in the Macon mayor's office, according to city's Web site.
