According to NCSO spokesman Cpl. Anthony Washington, the mother of a 13-year-old girl reported the incident.
"The mother and daughter were engaged in a verbal altercation and during the conversation, it was revealed by the 13-year-old daughter ... about having sex with a 20-year-old male," Washington said, adding that the young girl had been introduced to the man by a third party.
When the mother found out about the incident, she contacted the NCSO.
Also, Travis Lee Harris, 27, of 30 Ashton Place, has been charged with child molestation, aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes; and sexual battery.
Washington said the victim in this case also is a 13-year-old girl who was visiting a family member and while at their home was molested by a man known to them.
"The victim advised other family members of the incident," Washington said. The NCSO was contacted and an investigation ensued.
A third man was arrested and is being held in the Newton County Detention Center in connection with child molestation charges, but his case is being investigated by Gwinnett County and the facts surrounding his arrest are not known to Newton County authorities.
