BOC OKs ordinance to tackle handbills

COVINGTON -- The county commissioners recently passed an ordinance requiring cleanup of unsolicited handbills and advertisements within four days.

Social Circle to hold 4th cleanup day

SOCIAL CIRCLE -- Social Circle officials don't want residents only thinking about the inside of their homes when they are spring cleaning this year. They also want them to remember the outside community.

Chamber of Commerce hosts Shred Day

COVINGTON -- If you don't want anybody else to have it and you don't need it, shred it.That's the theory behind Shred Day, an event being hosted by the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce. On April 21, the Chamber will make destruction of documents easy for all local residents and businesses.

Registration for driver education coming next week

CONYERS -- Parents interested in their children taking a driver education course in Rockdale County this summer can register their students for it later this month.

Fundraisers honored under Gold Dome

The Atha family of Covington and their supporters were honored at the Georgia Capitol on Monday for their efforts in raising nearly $90,000 from the community to purchase Level III bulletproof vests for Newton County deputies.
