The event was held at the Georgia Veteran's Memorial Park in north Rockdale County and sponsored by the Republican Party of Rockdale County, along with support from Republican parties in Henry, Walton, Gwinnett and Fulton counties. In all, 27 candidates in the July 20 primary election made appearances.

The rally was the first major event booked at the Veteran's Park, located just inside Black Shoals Park on the banks of Poynter Lake. The park recently dedicated a new amphitheater at the end of the Walk of Heroes that can accommodate 1,000 people for performances or other group functions.
