With the Charlie Elliott astronomy group having been involved with various telescope construction projects over the past year, this month's meeting will feature a workshop on astro-imaging, astrophotography and telescope storage cases, among other things.
Some topics will be handled in small discussion groups.
The program is free and open to the public and the start time will be at 5 p.m. April 17 at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Visitors Center, off Ga. Highway 11, just south of Mansfield.
A "Sunset Time Alert" will follow the feature presentation for those who wish to leave a bit early and set up observing equipment on the nearby observing field before dark. Sunset will occur at 8:07 p.m.
The main presentation will be followed by "Current Events in Astronomy & Space Exploration" and "Observing 101" which feature graphics and other visuals of coming celestial events, including sky locations of currently visible planets, comets and other interesting sky phenomena.
After the final presentation, weather permitting, all are invited to enjoy an evening of observing near the CE Visitors Center. Bring your own telescope or use those provided by the astronomy club.
The CE Wildlife Center is located at 543 Elliott Trail, Mansfield, GA, 30055, off Ga. Highway 11, about 10 miles south of I-20, Exit 98. The CE chapter of the Atlanta Astronomy Club is open to all persons and meets monthly at the CE Wildlife Visitors Center.
