If it was outside Tuesday, it was likely covered in pollen. Locally the pollen count neared 3,000 and will continue to soar today. A week ago the pollen count was at 17. Anything over 120 is considered extremely high. Tree pollen -- oak, maple, birch and willow -- are the culprits, with white pine likely to weigh-in later this week. Experts urge keeping windows on homes and automobiles closed, refraining from using attic fans, curtailing outdoor activities, avoiding mowing grass or blowing leaves and washing pets before bringing them inside.
