The Covington Square is a mass of color with blue pinwheels, but their purpose has a bittersweet message. They were placed there by Prevent Child Abuse Newton and each one represents a case of child abuse or neglect reported during 2009. Other pinwheel locations are Newton Federal Bank, the Department of Family and Children Services and The Church at Covington. There were a total of 932 complaints of child abuse in Newton County last year. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
