Men arrested for break-in while teen at home

COVINGTON - Two men who allegedly broke into a house where a 13-year-old girl was home alone have been arrested and charged with burglary.

Marques Ledon Little, 19, of 1744 Carissa Drive and Daniel Allen Williams, 20, of 2382 Shadow Wood Drive both in Conyers, face one count of burglary in connection with the break-in reported Tuesday morning at a River Cove Road residence in Social Circle.

Lt. Tyrone Oliver, spokesman for the Newton County Sheriff's Office, said the teen heard someone kick in the back door.

"She went and hid in the closet and called her mama and called 911," Oliver said.

According to a report by Deputy David Altwies, he responded to the burglary in progress call about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Altwies stated in his report that he arrived at the residence to find the mother of the girl had just arrived. She was able to tell deputies that a Nintendo Wii game console with controllers and three laptop computers were missing from the residence.

The woman's daughter told Altwies that she had seen a black SUV back into the driveway and two black men get out. One, she said, was wearing a red shirt.

Altwies reported that he went to his patrol car to get a business card for the victims and saw a black SUV occupied by two men, the passenger in a red shirt, drive by. Altwies pursued the SUV and pulled it over at the corner of River Cove Road and River Cove Ridge.

Altwies said the car was registered to Williams, who gave him permission to search the vehicle. Inside Altwies found a Wii console unit, a laptop computer and another Wii console unit in a shoe box.

Both suspects were transported to the Newton County Law Enforcement Center for further questioning. According to the report, under questioning by Investigator Sharron Stewart, Little reportedly confessed to kicking in the back door of the residence and stealing the game system and three laptops. He reportedly told Stewart where the laptops were hidden.

Altwies returned to River Cove neighborhood where he located a Dell and an HP laptop in the woods beside 60 Meadow Lake Lane.
