CONYERS -- A Covington man was pronounced dead at the scene early Tuesday morning following a motorcycle accident on Sigman Road in Conyers.
According to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, Stephen Andrew Wust, 26, of 340 Berkshire Drive died from injuries sustained when his motorcycle slid underneath a car that was making a left turn in from of him.
The accident occurred at 5:20 a.m. when a 1999 Toyota Camry traveling north attempted to make a left turn off of Sigman Road and onto Interstate 20, west of Conyers. Wust was riding a 2003 Honda Shadow motorcycle and traveling south.
The Camry was driven by a 66-year-old woman from Conyers. As the car turned left, Wust laid the motorcycle down on one side in an attempt to avoid the car. Wust slid toward the Camry. The Camry slid toward the entrance to the west bound lanes of I-20, according to the RCSO report.
Wust then slid under the Camry and was run over. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Rockdale County Deputy Coroner Michael Grady, the report said.
The Camry came to rest at the entrance ramp to I-20. The driver did not receive any injuries, the report said.
