"I just read the letter that J.C. Henderson sent to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs Division. How embarrassing for the county that such a letter was mailed. Would someone please help J.C. with his spelling and grammar. How many laughs went through the state government when they realized that he is truly an elected official of Newton County. It wasn't bad enough that he was all over the papers and news media with his charge of family violence, now he wants the commission to create a paying job for him and his wife. Doesn't it make you proud to be a voter in the 4th district."

"Could someone please explain to me how the Board of Education paid the Newton County Industrial Development Authority $14,000 per acre for a total purchase price of $1,133,580? To my understanding the school system was in a bit of a budget cut: lowering the teacher retirement, schools highly encouraged not to get substitute teachers, furlough days, etc. ... "

"The Nov. 21 comments about the Oak Hill Recycle Center: The county employees at the Oak Hill Center are rude ... With unemployment in the double digits, you'd think Newton County could find someone without a chip on their shoulder to staff the Oak Hill Center. ... "

"I would like to know what the financial status of Newton County. After laying off employees, cutting back hours and cutting back budgets, what is the financial position of the county?"

"Hallelujah! Finally the people who want to turn onto Salem from Spring Road will eventually be able to without hoping that someone on Salem will give them a break. The DOT promised us in 2001 that we would have a signal and turning lane by 2004. Only five to six years past due!"

"I want to send a big thank you to the good Samaritan that turned in my pocket book that I left in the buggy at Wal-Mart. It is so good to see that there are still honest people in the world. My whole life is in my wallet, and thank God you are the one that found it. I wish I could meet you, and I hope you are blessed. Thank you!"

"To the fellow citizen complaining about the Oak Hill recycling 'ruler' -- I have witnessed similar ... tactics at this same location. Would the Newton Citizen publish the name and phone number or e-mail for the contact person that oversees these rude employees? I wonder how many others have been disgusted with the czar-like behavior and just did not know how to complain. Don't the taxpayers who pay their salary deserve even a modicum of respect?"

"It is time for J.C. Henderson to go. His actions are going to cost jobs in this county, including people in his district. He does not understand people are out of work. He needs to resign and work on his family problems."
