CONYERS -- The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office confiscated guns, ammunition and drugs in a Conyers apartment during a search warrant that resulted in the arrest of two Covington men.
Lester Demond Lackey, 20, of 546 Lackey Road, and Ryan Oneal Little, 28, of 10139 Straphase Trail, both of Covington, were arrested by the RCSO's Narcotics and Vice Unit Nov. 18, at 2786 Country Court, Apt. C, in the Country Walk subdivision off Salem Road.
The arrests following a month long investigation that stemmed from complaints about drug activity in the area, according to a Sheriff's Office written statement released Tuesday.
Narcotics and Vice Unit investigators had allegedly made purchases of crack cocaine at the apartment on several occasions during the course of the investigation. When they executed a search warrant last week, investigators had to forcibly open the door, according to the statement.
They arrived with an undercover operative and knocked on the door to announce themselves. The door was opened briefly and then slammed shut, according to RCSO spokeswoman Sgt. Jodi Shupe.
"They forced the door open to gain entrance to the residence, and once everyone inside was secured Narcotics and Vice Unit began searching the residence," Shupe said.
Investigators located a clear plastic bag that contained crack cocaine and a small amount of marijuana, along with two loaded handguns, ammunition for those handguns and approximately $4,500 in cash, according to the statement.
Lackey was charged with one count each of possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and sale of cocaine.
Little was charged with three counts of sale of cocaine and one count of possession of cocaine.
Both men were taken to the Rockdale County Jail. They remained in custody Tuesday without bond.
