TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Freshman Sean Gilmartin pitched a complete game and Jason Stidham had five RBIs in Florida State's 8-2 victory over Georgia on Saturday that advanced the Seminoles to the championship round of the Tallahassee Regional.
Florida State (44-16) jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Georgia senior Trevor Holder (7-5) settled down in the middle innings, retiring 12 consecutive batters during one stretch. Gilmartin (12-3) allowed two runs on five hits.
'Sean Gilmartin did a great job,' said Georgia coach David Perno, whose team homered seven times a day earlier against Ohio State. 'He had our number. He did a tremendous job - a lot of poise for a freshman.'
Georgia (38-23) will play Ohio State in an elimination game today. The winner will play Florida State in the finals.
Gilmartin's only blemish came when he missed with an inside fastball to Georgia cleanup hitter Rich Poythress, who hit his 25th homer, a two-run shot to right field in the fourth inning.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Matt Streng drove in the winning run, Jake Hale picked up his 17th save and Big Ten champion Ohio State avoided elimination.
Michael Arp doubled and Streng's sacrifice fly broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning. Streng added an RBI single in the eighth as the third-seeded Buckeyes (41-18) improved to 35-1 when leading after seven innings.
Marist (31-28) had tied the game in the top of the sixth on George Agostini's second home run of the season, a solo shot to right.
Elon 4, Georgia State 3
ATLANTA - Cory Harrilchak hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth inning, Jimmy Reyes struck out a career-high 14 and Elon edged Georgia State to eliminate the Panthers from their first NCAA tournament.
Reyes (8-0) threw 135 pitches and gave up eight hits and three runs in eight innings for Elon (41-17). Bennett Davis, who hit three homers in a 17-15 loss to Southern Miss on Friday, added a two-run homer in Elon's three-run first inning. Elon's 138 homers lead the NCAA.
Georgia State (39-22) scored two runs in the first on Derek Simmons' homer and Matt Van Horn's run-scoring double.
Utah 11, Georgia Southern 10
FULLERTON, Calif. - Michael Beltran's two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning led Utah past Georgia Southern in an elimination game.
Rick Cornu was hit by a pitch with one out in the ninth, took second on a passed ball and scored one out later on Beltran's single for Utah (27-30).
Ty Wright and Griffin Benedict hit home runs for Georgia Southern (42-17), which made its first tournament appearance in seven years.
East Carolina 11, Binghamton 7
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Dustin Harrington hit one of East Carolina's three home runs, helping the Pirates beat Binghamton in a rain-delayed NCAA tournament opener.
Trent Whitehead and Devin Harris also went deep for top-seeded East Carolina (43-17), which led 11-2 after four innings and sent Binghamton into the elimination game against George Mason.
Joe Charron homered twice and drove in four runs for the fourth-seeded Bearcats.

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Henry Dunn and Corey Taylor each hit home runs to help Binghamton beat George Mason in an elimination game.
Jim Calderone had three hits for the Bearcats (30-21), who earned the program's first NCAA tournament victory and set a school single-season record for wins.
Jeff Dennis allowed nine hits but held George Mason (42-14) to two runs in five innings.
Tennessee Tech 6, Alabama 2
CLEMSON, S.C. - Michael Alcorn scattered nine hits in his third complete game of the season and Tennessee Tech knocked off Alabama in an elimination game.
Chad Oberacker had three hits for the Golden Eages (31-23-1).
Trailing 3-2 in the seventh, the Crimson Tide (37-21) had a chance to tie it, but Brandon May was thrown out trying to score from second on Del Howell's infield single.
Tennessee Tech put the game away with three runs in the bottom of the inning with the help of a throwing error by pitcher Adam Morgan (4-2).

Kansas 16, Dartmouth 0
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Shaeffer Hall threw a complete game while Zac Elgie had a school postseason-record six RBIs to help Kansas beat Dartmouth in an elimination game.
Buck Afenir added a two-run homer in the first inning for the Jayhawks (38-23), who broke the game open with 12 runs in the middle innings. Hall allowed five hits and struck out six.
Kyle Hendricks gave up six hits and seven earned runs in four innings for the Big Green (27-18).
Vanderbilt 10, Indiana 0
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Sonny Gray gave up seven hits and struck out 10 as Vanderbilt beat Indiana in an elimination game.
Steven Liddle had three hits and three RBIs, while Riley Reynolds also had three hits and scored two runs for third-seeded Vanderbilt (35-26).
Indiana's Matt Bashore (7-5) gave up eight hits and seven earned runs in 41/3 innings for the fourth-seeded Hoosiers, who were making their first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 1996.
Missouri 9, Monmouth 0
OXFORD, Miss. - Kyle Gibson (11-3) struck out eight and allowed six hits in eight strong innings and Missouri eliminated Monmouth.
Missouri scored three runs in the fifth and seventh innings, highlighted by Steve Gray's two-run homer. Kyle Mach was 4 for 5 and Aaron Senne added a solo homer to pace a 15-hit attack by the Tigers (35-26).
