Martha Taylor, director of volunteer services for Newton Medical Center, has been named "Director of Volunteer Services of the Year" by the Southeastern Directors of Volunteer Services in Healthcare Organizations. Taylor, who has volunteered her time for more than 25 years and oversees more than 250 volunteers who donate more than 34,000 hours of time annually, is described as "a major ambassador for her hospital, an outstanding leader, a visionary, and has exemplary leadership abilities. She has the ability to make people want to serve and to match their talents with a position they find rewarding and fun," according to a press release from SDVSHO. In presenting the award, Taylor was also lauded as a "guiding force for many fund raising and community outreach projects. Her influence is pervasive and measurable in hard data and human impact," the release states.
