The smell of savory hickory and spicy barbecue sauce is in the air and that can only mean one thing - it's time for Stalvey's Spring Barbecue. This photo showing volunteers hard at work was snapped at last year's event. Tickets are $6 and proceeds will benefit the Newton Medical Center Auxiliary Neonatal Intensive Care Unit equipment fund. Lunch will be served from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Stalvey's Restaurant on U.S. Highway 278. Customers are invited to dine in or use the drive-through. The menu will include chopped barbecue pork, Brunswick stew, cole slaw, pickles and bread. Beverages and homemade deserts will be available. Tickets should be purchased in advance from the NMC volunteer services office or the NMC gift shop. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. For more information, call 770-788-6553.
