CANTON - Eastside managed what many thought was not possible - to extend its season one more day.
Erupting for a seven-run seventh, the Eagles rallied past No. 3-ranked Creekview 12-7 in Game 1 of their best-of-three opening round Class AAA state playoff series, Friday. The Grizzlies went on to take Game 2 15-2 in the nightcap, forcing a decisive Game 3 today at 1 p.m. at Creekview. Highlighting the Game 1 win, Tim Roton drove in five runs, including a three-run double in the first, while Travis Marks added a two-run double in the seventh. Jerome Ivey tossed 31/3 innings of five-hit, one-run relief to earn the win, but took the loss in Game 2 after starting and being chased in the top of the second following a leadoff walk. Eastside scattered seven hits in the loss, with Jake Gresham leading the way with a two-run double in the second.More like this story
