Newton County Special Olympians, from left, Cory Conrad, Gabrielle Crews, Cindy Hamlin and Taylor Bradley are hoping residents will be lining up on May 16 in the parking lot of Antiques and Stuff on Pace Street near the intersection of U.S. Highway 278, to purchase their recently published cookbook. The book, titled "Inspiring Recipes," is a fundraiser for the organization which has offered athletic competition to more than 600 young Newton County athletes this year. The price is $12. "Through the purchase of this cookbook, you are helping Newton County's special athletes continue to experience the joy of sports, confidence in their ability and pride in their accomplishments," said Cindy Conrad, a member of the volunteer Management Team which coordinates the program. Books can also be purchased through Conrad by calling 678-625-2515 or by calling Mickie Bradley at 770-784-9821.
