Piedmont celebrates Earth Day

Students in Tara Pope's K4 classroom recently recycled old paper to make new paper in celebration of Earth Day. The students used four types of paper to recycle: newspaper, magazines, construction paper, and white copy paper. As part of the process, the boys and girls shredded and wet the paper with water to make a paste-like substance by using a blender. Then, they flattened the mixture to a thin layer. After their "paste" dried, the students compared thickness, color, and how the paper looked for the final product compared to what they began with.
